FORIMMEDIATE RELEASE
Human Rights Activist Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef Request Formal Meeting w/Illinois Lawmaker Senate President Don Harmon to Discuss Protecting Voter’s Rights in IllinoisAfter Supreme Court Ruling

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Official Statement - May 1, 2026
United States presidential candidate Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef denounces the Supreme Court ruling, calling it unconstitutional for infringing on the voting rights of Black and Brown citizens.
U.S. Presidential Candidate Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef says, "On April 29,2026, the Supreme Court ruled 6‑3 in Louisiana v. Callais that Louisiana’s congressional map creating a second majority-Black district was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander under the Equal Protection Clause. This decision tightens the limits on when states may consider race in congressional redistricting and, as a practical matter, could make it harder to maintain district lines that enable Black and Brown voters to elect candidates of their choice. It also opens the door for other states to pursue similar challenges and redraw districts in ways that could reduce minority representation. Elections have consequences, and these ruling underscores what is at stake for voting rights nationwide.
· Has the current administration publicly denounced this ruling?
·The answer to this questions is no—and continued silence is unacceptable. I am running for President to nominate Supreme Court Justices with a proven commitment to protecting civil rights. I will fight to restore women’s rights and voting rights, so all Americans’ voices are heard.
Sincerely yours,Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef
